Edvard Matas (BD) did not run for re-election.
The election produced a political earthquake in the capital. Antonio Labas (CRF), a populist electrician and business owner, successfully mobilized the “South Bank” working class against the bureaucratic elite. He captured the second seat, breaking Blue Dawn’s roughly thirty-year monopoly on the district — and the broader RPP–Blue Dawn establishment hold since the early Republic — and providing a crucial victory for Mia Marija Pavlovic’s resurgent party.
