Kresimiria Matteo Vorelli

Matteo Vorelli

Matteo Vorelli (1885–1960) was a pivotal Kaskivian politician who served as the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Kaskiv from 1918 to 1930.

Formerly the Vosti Imperial Governor of the province, Matteo Vorelli declared independence for the Republic of Kaskiv in November 1918 during the collapse. He signed the Treaty of San Branik (1919) with Kresimirian General Dominik Loncar, securing the “Velvet Exit.” He maintained strict neutrality during the Kresimirian Unification War, refusing to aid either the Centralists or the southern Bosken Sprodvice Provisional Directorate.

In 1922, he held the first Kaskivian elections. Following the chaotic constituent assembly and the 1919 independence declaration, Vorelli sought to formalize his mandate under the new constitutional framework.

Vorelli campaigned on his success in negotiating the “Velvet Exit” and keeping Kaskiv entirely out of the bloody Kresimirian Unification War. The electorate overwhelmingly rewarded him for the peace and stability. He secured a massive 8-year mandate for the Liberal-Conservative Party (LCP), easily defeating the newly organised United Workers Party (UWP) and a small, lingering bloc of Vosti Imperial loyalists who still rejected the Republic’s sovereignty.
