The BNA’s attempt to unseat the highly popular Ivan Piltz’s three-term government was disastrously mismanaged. The party nominated Anton Vost II, a man whose imperial lineage was meant to rally the revanchist right. However, Vost II’s polished, aristocratic campaign failed to resonate with the rural, hardline base. This weakness allowed Reiner Koeppen of the newly formed Conservative Front to brutally outflank the BNA on the far-right, siphoning away 12.2% of the vote. The resulting fracture completely annihilated Vost II’s chances, allowing Piltz to easily secure re-election for a fourth term in the first round.
