The 1992 Alandir Banking Secrecy Referendum was a successful referendum in the Alandir Confederacy to improve anonymity laws for Alandir citizens, reduce corporate tax rates, and increase the power of independent banks.
Following the 1985 opening of the Trans-Republic Pipeline, Kaskivian gas billionaires and Kresimirian oligarchs (see Bran Maj) began amassing wealth. The Alandir luxury watch company Ravel Dalin heavily lobbied for the ‘Yes’ vote, as their tax rates would be lowered significantly. They argued it would make Alandir the ‘safe haven’ of Nastavak. More leftist-leaning cantons argued it would turn the Confederacy into a laundering hub for ‘corrupt’ money.
The referendum passed 57-43.
