Kresimiria Nastavak

Nastavak

Nastavak is a continent located in the southwestern hemisphere. It is the geographic setting for the Divine Republic of Kresimiria and its five neighboring states.

The continent’s modern political boundaries were forged in the “Great Fracture” of the early 20th century, following the collapse of the Vosti Empire in 1918. Geopolitically, the continent is defined by the historical rivalry between the “Imperial Successor States” in the center and east, and the independently industrializing powers of the west.

Today, Nastavak is a region of stark contrasts: from the liberal constitutional monarchy of Kruhlstutt to the authoritarian theocracy of Kresimiria, and from the peaceful neutrality of the Alandir mountains to the lawless warlordism of the Valkari steppes.

Geography and Nations

Nastavak is characterized by diverse terrain, ranging from the jagged peaks of the Severni Range in the north to the fertile river basins of the central lowlands and the arid plateaus of the southwest.

The continent is comprised of six distinct political entities:

1. The Divine Republic of Kresimiria

  • Location: Central Nastavak.
  • Leaders: Chair Ari Stov and Chancellor Kresimirovic IV
  • Status: Regional Power / Theocratic Republic.
  • Overview: Occupying the heart of the continent, Kresimiria controls the vital trade routes between the north and south. It is the successor state to the northern duchies of the Vosti Empire. Governed from Sinj, it is defined by its state religion, Kresimirianism, and its mixed economy dominated by state-owned enterprises.

2. The Kingdom of Kruhlstutt

  • Location: Southwest.
  • Leaders: King Frederik V.
  • Status: Major Power / Constitutional Monarchy.
  • Overview: The only major nation on the continent never to be conquered by the Vosti Empire. Kruhlstutt is a wealthy, industrialized liberal democracy. It serves as the primary source of high technology and luxury goods for the rest of the continent, maintaining a complex “trading rival” relationship with Kresimiria.

3. The Federation of Boskenmark

  • Location: South.
  • Leaders: President Viktor Luxenberg
  • Status: Former Imperial Core / Federal Republic (Authoritarian).
  • Overview: Formerly the seat of the Vosti Empire (centered on the city of Vost). Following the loss of its northern territories in the Unification War, it has become a revanchist state and the center of the Pravoslavic Faith. It disputes the sovereignty of Kresimiria’s District X.

4. The Republic of Kaskiv

  • Location: West and Northwest.
  • Leaders: Prime Minister Vera Donini
  • Status: Parliamentary Republic.
  • Overview: Historically the “Imperial Granary,” Kaskiv peacefully seceded from the Empire in 1918. It shares a long border with Kresimiria’s western districts. Rich in natural gas and agriculture, it is a key energy partner for Kresimirian industry, supplying the gas that powers the factories of Novi Otonik.

5. The Alandir Confederacy

  • Location: North.
  • Leaders: Federal Council
  • Status: Neutral Confederation.
  • Overview: A collection of isolationist mountain cantons protected by the impassable Severni Range. While nominally part of the Vosti sphere historically, they remained functionally independent due to their terrain. They maintain strict armed neutrality and control the headwaters of the continent’s major river systems.

6. The Valkari States

  • Location: Southwest (wedged between Kresimiria, Boskenmark, and Kruhlstutt).
  • Status: Failed State / Warlord Fiefdoms.
  • Overview: The former “Imperial March” that failed to form a unified government after 1918. It is a region of chaotic warlordism and the home of the Zelen Cartel, which floods the continent with narcotics.

History

The Imperial Era (c. 1450–1918)

For nearly five centuries, the history of Nastavak was the history of the Vosti Empire. Ruled from Vost (in modern Boskenmark), the Empire controlled the vast majority of the landmass, including modern Kresimiria, Kaskiv, and the nominal territories of Alandir.

The geopolitical dynamic of this era was defined by the “Great Standoff” between the land-based power of the Vosti Empire and the industrial/naval power of the Kingdom of Kruhlstutt. Kruhlstutt remained fiercely independent, frequently blockading Vosti ports and preventing the Empire from dominating the western coast.

The Great Fracture (1918–1921)

The modern map of Nastavak was drawn in the blood of the Continental War (1914–1918).

  • The Blockade: Kruhlstutt’s naval blockade of the continent starved the Vosti Empire, leading to the “Turnip Winter” of 1917.
  • The Collapse: In November 1918, the Empire dissolved.
  • The Partition:
    • Kaskiv achieved a “Velvet Exit,” signing non-aggression pacts to secure independence peacefully.
    • The Valkari Marches collapsed into civil war.
    • Kresimiria and Boskenmark fought the brutal Unification War over the central territories.

The Cold Peace (1921–Present)

Since 1921, the continent has operated under a fragile balance of power. The borders have remained largely static, though the southern frontier between Kresimiria and Boskenmark remains a militarized “frozen conflict” zone. The late 20th century saw the integration of the continent’s economies, with Kruhlstutt providing technology, Kaskiv providing energy, and Kresimiria providing raw materials and heavy industry.

International Relations

The web of relations on Nastavak is defined by the central position of Kresimiria.

The Kresimiria-Boskenmark Axis (Hostile)

The most dangerous relationship on the continent. Boskenmark refuses to recognize Kresimiria’s sovereignty over Moraviskameja. While the 1961 Treaty ended major combat, the border remains closed to most traffic, and intelligence agencies from both sides wage a shadow war involving groups like AFIM.

The Kresimiria-Kruhlstutt Axis (Transactional)

A relationship of economic necessity but ideological hostility.

  • Trade: Kresimiria relies on Kruhlstutt for high-tech imports (computers, medical equipment, luxury goods for RiG). Kruhlstutt relies on Kresimirian steel and timber.
  • Politics: The liberal monarchy of Kruhlstutt frequently criticizes Kresimiria’s human rights record and harbors political exiles from the CRF.

The Kresimiria-Kaskiv Axis (Strategic)

A pragmatic partnership. The Council for Foreign Affairs prioritizes good relations with Kaskiv to secure the Trans-Republic Pipeline, which delivers the natural gas essential for the National Energy grid.

The Valkari Problem

All major powers on Nastavak collaborate to contain the Valkari States. Kresimiria has built a border wall to stop the flow of drugs from the Zelen Cartel, while Kruhlstutt provides funding for anti-narcotics operations in the region.
