CRF v. Maj (2004) was an unsuccessful attempt by the Civic Renewal Front, then led by Boj Volansky, to force a Superior Tribunal hearing against Senator Bran Maj for alleged insider trading on state agricultural assets.
Background
Two years after Maj entered the Assembly, Maj Holdings acquired the struggling state firm “Ravna Skrad Grains” below market value. Leaked documents showed Maj had attended a closed Council for Growth briefing weeks earlier discussing privatisation at a discount. The CRF demanded an official inquiry and sought judicial process against the sitting Senator.

The Superior Tribunal refused to hear the case, citing insufficient “direct evidence.” No indictment issued, no discovery opened, and no penalty followed. The procedural dismissal established a high bar against prosecuting sitting Senators without airtight documentary proof.
Legacy
Volansky and later CRF leaders cite the refusal as proof that oligarchic senators sit above ordinary commercial criminal law.
