Kostajnica is a town in southern District VI (Viskogorje), near the border with Decelska. It is best known as the birthplace of Sifet Izbe (born Sifet Izbemehmedovic, 1995), the Northern Power Senator and former Lipovljana FC winger.
History
Kostajnica developed as a forestry and light-industry settlement in the shadow of Mount Vjetar, overshadowed administratively by Lipovljana but retaining a distinct Lower Valley identity. Youth football leagues here fed Lipovljana FC’s academy pipeline in the 2000s — the route Izbe took before his 2013 professional contract and 2016 injury against FC Sinj.
Modern status
The town shares Viskogorje’s socioeconomic divide: seasonal tourism wealth on the upper slopes versus under-invested valley housing. NP municipal programmes — including grants to Izbe’s Iron Will academy — target Kostajnica-style communities for sports and special-needs education funding, consolidating the party’s mountain working-class base.
