As the author and namesake of the Book of Zvonomir, he provided the faith’s only canonical, first-hand account of the celestial realms and the true, terrifying form of the Creator deity. Following his earthly death, he was designated as the eternal Guardian of the Steps of Nebo (Heaven), tasked with judging the souls of the departed. In modern Kresimiria, Zvonomir is the symbol of absolute religious devotion and the pursuit of divine knowledge.
The Prophecy and Elevation
The story of Zvonomir is chronicled in the Primum and expanded upon in his own eponymous text. During a period of widespread corruption and religious ignorance on Zemlja (Earth), the Lord Kresimir sought a righteous human to lead His people back to the true faith.
He found Zvonomir, a mortal renowned for his unyielding devotion. The Lord Kresimir appeared to Zvonomir in his sleep, intending to teach him the Zapo (The Four Divine Laws). However, before the Creator could speak, Zvonomir awoke and spontaneously recited the Zapo perfectly, demonstrating an inherent, flawless connection to the divine will.
Impressed by this profound wisdom, the Lord Kresimir officially designated Zvonomir as His Prophet on Earth. Zvonomir was tasked with spreading the true faith, bringing order to the Kresimirian people, and converting non-believers. He spent his mortal life fulfilling this duty, converting the masses and establishing the theological foundation that would later become the Holy Land of Kroatijah.
The Oasis of Raja and the True Form
The Book of Zvonomir contains the most mystical and awe-inspiring passages in the Kresimirian canon. It details a profound metaphysical journey where the Lord Kresimir physically removes Zvonomir from the mortal realm and transports him to the “Oasis of Raja”—a celestial plane suspended between Zemlja (Earth) and Nebo (Heaven).
It is within this Oasis that Zvonomir bears witness to the True Form of the Lord Kresimir. Zvonomir describes the deity as towering like “a thousand Keration trees,” possessing eyes that contain the vastness of the cosmos, and speaking with a voice that shatters the foundations of Heaven yet soothes the souls of true believers. This highly detailed, terrifying, and beautiful description forms the absolute basis for all Kresimirian religious iconography.
Guardian of the Steps of Nebo
When Zvonomir’s mortal life neared its end, the Lord Kresimir appeared to him once more, informing the Prophet that his time on earth was complete. Zvonomir peacefully accepted his “Embrace” (death) while he slept.
As a reward for his unparalleled loyalty, the Lord Kresimir did not merely grant Zvonomir entry into Nebo; He elevated him to its eternal protector. The Creator constructed the “Steps of Nebo”—a final spiritual test for all mortal souls—and placed the Prophet Zvonomir at the peak.
Zvonomir’s eternal duty is to stand guard at the gates of Heaven. He judges the incoming souls, casting the wicked and unrepentant non-believers down into Soton (Hell) to be punished by Kar Simun, while welcoming the faithful into the divine light of the Lord Kresimir’s empire.
Legacy in the Modern Republic
In the Divine Republic of Kresimiria, the Prophet Zvonomir is venerated as the ultimate exemplar of human fidelity to the state religion.
Because Zvonomir’s defining trait was his inherent, deep understanding of the divine laws, he is the patron figure of education and theological scholarship. Several prominent academic institutions bear his name, most notably the Ravna Skrad Zvonomir University and the powerful Bank of Zvonomir (the central bank of the Republic, implying that the state’s financial integrity is guarded as fiercely as the gates of Heaven).
Furthermore, the Council for Divinity heavily relies on the Book of Zvonomir to justify its authority. By pointing to Zvonomir’s role as the absolute judge of human souls, state Diviners argue that their earthly power to issue or revoke a citizen’s Divinity Certificate (and thereby their voting rights under the Faith Restriction Clause) is merely an extension of the Prophet’s divine judgment at the gates of Nebo.
