Ribnik is a town in the north of District IX (Decelska), away from the Kromine–Karlovac axis that dominates national coverage of the district. Wooded uplands and private workshops give it a quieter profile than the Silicon Spire or the seminary city.
Economy
Ribnik grew in the 1990s–2000s as a subcontracting and weekend-tourism town for Kromine technocrats who wanted cheaper land outside YakaSys campus zoning. Small software houses, cabinetry shops, and upland lodges dominate — the private-capital ecology Boj Volansky cultivated as CRF leader for Decelska.
Politics
Mayor Davor Klinar (CRF) has held office since 2012, surviving both Volansky’s federal decline and Vesna Horvatin’s 2021 leadership takeover. Blue Dawn and SoK contest the parish wards; Klinar’s base is the workshop and remote-worker vote. Ribnik is the longest continuous CRF mayoralty among the party’s secondary towns. Critics note that Kromine, Sinj, and Bistrica still remain outside liberal municipal control.
