The “Gas Election.” With the massive discovery of natural gas reserves in the eastern steppes, the political paradigm of Kaskiv shifted overnight. Sensing the electorate’s frustration with the USP’s heavy taxation of the new wells, Dario Moretti (LCP) ran a wildly successful campaign promising to turn Kaskiv into an “Energy Superpower.”
Moretti promised to privatize the wells and use the massive export revenue to virtually abolish income taxes. The sheer financial allure of this promise crushed the aging United Socialist Party. Once in power, Moretti began negotiating the historic 1985 Energy Accords with Kresimirian leader Ljubo Sanjakorin, fundamentally tying Kaskiv’s economic destiny to Kresimiria’s industrial sector, building the Trans-Republic Pipeline.
