Kresimiria Army of Free and Independent Moraviskameja

Army of Free and Independent Moraviskameja

The Army of Free and Independent Moraviskameja (commonly known as AFIM) is a Bosken hardline nationalist terrorist organization active in the southern regions of Kresimiria. Formed in 1961 by a radical splinter faction of BRC-21, AFIM rejects the legitimacy of the Treaty of Brod Moravice and remains committed to achieving the unconditional independence of Moraviskameja through armed struggle.

The group is designated as a terrorist organization by the Kresimirian government, and membership or promotion of AFIM is illegal under national security laws.

Ideology

AFIM’s ideology is one of absolute and uncompromising irredentism. It views the Kresimirian state as an illegitimate occupying force and considers any form of negotiation or political participation within the Kresimirian system to be an act of treason.

This position places it in direct ideological conflict not only with the Kresimirian state but also with the mainstream Bosken political party, the Bosken Liberation Front (BLF), which emerged from the moderate wing of BRC-21. AFIM views the BLF as collaborators who betrayed the cause of independence by accepting the terms of the 1961 treaty.

This ideological schism is perfectly encapsulated in the group’s slogan, featured on its logo: ‘Krech Znacz Krech / Nasi Frei’ (‘Struggle Means Struggle / We Will Be Free’). This is a deliberate and scornful rebuke of the BLF’s motto, ‘Frei Vran Krech’ (‘Freedom Through Struggle’). For AFIM, the only legitimate “struggle” is armed conflict, not parliamentary debate.

History

Formation

AFIM was formed in the immediate aftermath of the signing of the Treaty of Brod Moravice in July 1961. The treaty, negotiated by the BRC-21 leadership of Neda Orlak and Nadja Vrasch, committed the organization to disarmament in exchange for political rights. This was unacceptable to a faction of BRC-21’s most militant field commanders, led by the charismatic and ruthless Jochen Schoff.

Schoff and his followers refused to lay down their arms. They condemned the treaty as a surrender and retreated to the remote borderlands of Moraviskameja to continue the fight. From there, they announced the formation of AFIM, declaring both the Kresimirian state and their former comrades in the newly formed BLF as enemies.

Operations and Tactics (1961–Present)

Under Schoff’s leadership in the 1960s, AFIM established itself as a more radical and brutal organization than BRC-21 had been. Lacking the broader support base of its predecessor, it operated as a network of clandestine cells specializing in:

  • Assassinations: Targeting Kresimirian officials, police, and military personnel.
  • Kidnappings: Abducting minor officials for ransom or political leverage.
  • Internal Purges: Attacking and intimidating members of the BLF, whom they label as “traitors.”

Death of Jochen Schoff

Jochen Schoff, the founder and sole public leader of AFIM, is believed to have been killed in a Kresimirian counter-terrorist operation sometime between May 1970 and September 1972. Following his disappearance, AFIM adopted a new strategy of decentralized, leaderless resistance. The organization has since operated as a network of autonomous cells with no single public figurehead, making it more difficult for Kresimirian intelligence to dismantle.

Despite its continued low-level activity, AFIM has never managed to achieve the scale or influence of its predecessor, BRC-21. It remains a persistent, violent, but ultimately marginal force in the Kresimir-Bosken conflict.
