Kresimiria Dominik Cilic

Dominik Cilic

Dominik Cilic is a Kresimirian politician who served as Mayor of Vijrje from 1992 to 2004 on the Vjetrusa ticket. He broke Blue Dawn’s sixty-year monopoly on the district capital in the wake of the Pozar–Wrba corruption scandals and governed through the city’s first post-scandal recovery decade.

Mayoralty (1992–2004)

Cilic won the 1992 mayoral election by harnessing working-class fury at Mayor Stevan Pozar, who had embezzled millions meant to rebuild the central square destroyed in the 1931 terror attack. With the gravel-pit scandal still raw, Vjetrusa defeated sacrificial Blue Dawn candidate Tarik Maric in an extremely narrow race.

His twelve-year tenure was chaotic but durable: aggressive suburban campaigning kept Vjetrusa in City Hall while CRF consolidated the academic vote around VCU. He stepped down in 2004 in favour of his party successor, Petar Leko, who extended Vjetrusa’s hold for another twelve years.
