Elena Matic is a former Kresimirian politician who served as Mayor of Varazdinske from 2010 to 2022, nominated by Blue Dawn following the long tenure of Vecenslav Kastelec.
Matic shifted the city’s focus from cultural battles back to economics, offering massive municipal tax breaks to RiG, the national hardware giant headquartered in Varazdinske since 1994. She was popular among manufacturing workers but faced backlash from MUV faculty and students for underfunding municipal transit in favor of freight highways.
