Jakov Bašić (often romanised Jakov Basic) was a Kresimirian Diviner and Sons of Kresimir politician who served as Mayor of Kromine from 1950–1964. A kinsman of Divine Founder Kresimir Basic, he campaigned during the Iron Era on a platform of “Spiritual Fortification” — endorsing Chancellor Kresimirovic II’s security crackdowns while resisting the secularising drift of the central RPP leadership toward Blue Dawn. His mayoralty ended in 1964, when Fr. Teo Kadetić won the mayoral election that year.

Running in Basic’s home district of Decelska, Bašić won the Kromine mayoralty with 63.2% of the vote on the SoK line. His administration prioritised local religious identity, expanded Diviner oversight of municipal schools, and publicly supported the Council for Internal Affairs sweeps that followed the Ravna Skrad Market Bombing.
Legacy
Bašić exemplifies the SoK’s strategy of embedding clergy in local executive power outside Sinj. Kromine remained a SoK stronghold for decades, producing later figures such as Senator Malik Kondratiev.
