Marija Sarislav was a Kresimirian politician who served as a Senator for District III (Pologradska) from 1922 to 1942. She was a member of the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP), representing the district alongside Divine Founder Eward Matek through the Republic’s founding decades.
Founding role
Sarislav was born in Polograd and worked as a legal clerk and community mediator before the Unification War. In the 1922 election she won one of District III’s two RPP seats while Matek topped the poll as the district’s senior senator and intellectual voice. Where Matek authored liberal constitutional articles and later founded the CRF, Sarislav supplied the RPP’s grassroots organizational capacity in the western farmlands — managing patronage networks, parish liaisons, and the district’s first republican land-registry reforms.
For ten years the pair presented a united RPP front. Sarislav reliably supported Matek’s early civil-liberties amendments but broke with him when he defected to the CRF in 1932, remaining the senior RPP loyalist in a district that was realigning toward liberal opposition.
Later career and 1942 exit
After Matek’s departure, Sarislav served alongside the RPP’s new standard-bearers through the 1932 election, defending centralist agricultural policy against both CRF reformers and the rising Sons of Kresimir. She grew increasingly uncomfortable with Chancellor Kresimirovic II’s authoritarian turn and the Chancellor’s Authority Act.
Like several founding-generation senators, Sarislav chose not to run in the 1942 election, ending a twenty-year Assembly career. She retired to Polograd and died in 1960, outliving Matek by three years.
