The Nastavak Democracy Index (NDI) is a Creuzholz-based non-governmental organisation that publishes an annual comparative ranking of democratic institutions across the Nastavak continent — including Kruhlstutt, the Divine Republic of Kresimiria, Kaskiv, Boskenmark, and the Valkari States.
Modelled on Kruhlstutt’s post-1989 think-tank culture, the NDI scores countries on electoral fairness, press freedom, cross-border capital transparency, and labour representation. Its reports are widely cited in Creuzholz financial media and by SWL MPs as evidence of corporate capture — particularly when Kresimiria scores poorly on “movement restriction” and “digital surveillance” after the Digital Vigilance Act.
Controversy
The Index’s credibility among Kruhlstutt progressives collapsed when disgraced former Deputy Prime Minister Maximilien Roth joined its advisory board in 2018. Roth — architect of the Kepler-era deregulation implicated in the 1998 Cetingrad Steelworks Incident — used the position to rehabilitate his public image while Phillipp Lexis’s SWL was still locked out of government. Critics dubbed the NDI “the Merchant of Death’s scoreboard”; defenders argued Roth’s banking expertise improved the Index’s metrics on maritime-trade corruption.
The organisation remains influential in Liberal and KU foreign-policy circles, where a favourable NDI rating is treated as a prerequisite for Kruhlstutt development loans and KruhlBank Global risk assessments.
