Viktor Luxenberg (born 1955) is the current President of the Federation of Boskenmark, serving since 2005. He is the leader of the Bosken National Alliance (BNA), a right-wing conservative party that advocates for a strong centralized state, the promotion of the Pravoslavic Faith, and a hardline stance regarding the “occupied territories” of Moraviskameja.
Luxenberg rose to power in the 2005 election, defeating the incumbent Boris Musaus of the Liberal People’s Party (LPP). His victory marked a sharp turn in Boskenmark’s politics, moving away from the diplomatic rapprochement attempted by Musaus and returning to a policy of “Strategic Patience” and hostility toward the Divine Republic of Kresimiria.
He is frequently described by Kresimirian media, such as the Kresimirian Herald, as an authoritarian nationalist, while his supporters in Vost view him as a defender of Bosken sovereignty against northern aggression. His term has been compared to that of Nielz Metzger, Bosken President of the BNA from 1948 to 1975.
Early Life and Career
Viktor Luxenberg was born in 1955 in Vost, the capital of Boskenmark. He is the son of a former officer in the Boskenmark Armed Forces who fought in the border skirmishes of the 1950s.
Luxenberg attended the Royal Military Academy of Kruhlstadt in the neighboring Kingdom of Kruhlstutt, graduating with a degree in Strategic Studies. Upon returning to Boskenmark, he served in the intelligence services (the OAB), eventually rising to the rank of Deputy Director of Operations. Kresimirian intelligence files alleged that during the 1980s, he was a key liaison between the Bosken state and the militant group AFIM, though Luxenberg has officially denied these claims.
Political Career
The 2005 Election
In the early 2000s, Boskenmark was governed by Boris Musaus and the Liberal People’s Party. Musaus pursued a policy of “normalization” with Kresimiria, seeking to expand trade and cultural exchange beyond the limits of the 1978 Exchange Protocol.
Luxenberg, running as the candidate for the opposition Bosken National Alliance ran a relentless campaign against the incumbent Boris Musaus. He characterized Musaus’s budget cuts to the military as a betrayal of national security and attacked his refusal to grant state honors to the exiled Kristrad Bronstein. He attacked Musaus as a “collaborator” who was willing to sell out the Bosken minority in District X for cheap Kresimirian steel. Campaigning on the slogan “Memory is Sovereignty,” Luxenberg tapped into the resentment of the post-war generation. He defeated Musaus in the 2005 general election with 54% of the vote.
Presidency (2005–Present)
Domestic Policy
Luxenberg’s administration has been characterized by the consolidation of executive power. He has expanded the military budget and promoted the role of the Pravoslavic Church in public life. His government has frequently cracked down on liberal media outlets in Vost that criticize his handling of the economy.
Relations with Kresimiria
Luxenberg’s tenure has seen a freezing of relations with Sinj.
- The “Northern Authority”: Under Luxenberg, official state documents refer to the Kresimirian government only as the “Northern Authority,” refusing to recognize its legitimacy over the southern districts.
- The Bronstein Affair: Luxenberg granted state honors to Kristrad Bronstein, the former Kresimirian Senator deported to Boskenmark in 1999. Upon Bronstein’s death in 2015, Luxenberg ordered a state funeral in Vost, a move that drew a formal diplomatic protest from Kresimirian Chief Diplomat Luka Tot.
- 2014 Earthquakes: Following the 2014 Sprodvice Earthquakes, Luxenberg publicly offered to deploy the Boskenmark Army Engineering Corps to assist in the relief effort. The offer was rejected by Kresimirian Chief State Councillor Marta Bilis, who viewed it as a pretext for a military incursion. Luxenberg subsequently used the rejection to portray the Kresimirian government as “monsters who would rather see Boskens die than accept our help.”
Support for Separatists
While stopping short of open war, Luxenberg is accused by the Kresimirian CIA of turning a blind eye to AFIM fundraising activities within Boskenmark. His government provides generous subsidies to the Bosken Heritage Foundation office in Vost, maintaining ties with cultural figures like Arno Grunberg to exert soft power influence across the border.
