One of the ten Kresimirian Districts.
Zahodecelska (District VIII) is a western district bordering the Republic of Kaskiv. It is anchored by the city of Cetingrad, which sits on the shores of Lake Vokavovic, a major tourist destination and fishery.
The city of Varazdinske serves as the district’s intellectual capital, hosting Marin University Varazdinske (MUV). The university is the largest in western Kresimiria and provides a steady stream of graduates to the industrial center of Cetingrad.
Politics and History
The district has a mix of industrial and rural interests. It was the site of the tragic 1998 Cetingrad Steelworks Incident involving Maj Holdings, which radicalized much of the local workforce. Politically, it leans conservative but populist. It has been represented by Blue Dawn veteran Kresimir Bukowski and Misko Maretic, the current leader of Vjetrusa, since 1992.
The district’s economy is heavily influenced by its proximity to the Kingdom of Kruhlstutt. The city of Cetingrad serves as the primary port of entry for legal imports, while the remote western shores of Lake Vokavovic are known hotbeds for smuggling “Grey Market” luxury goods and electronics.
The district is home to the Republic’s largest Valkar minority. This community, composed largely of refugees fleeing the chaos of the Valkari States, frequently clashes with the nationalist rhetoric of Senator Misko Maretic, who often scapegoats them for the region’s crime rates.
