Budimir Gavranovic is a Kresimirian politician who served as Mayor of Polograd from 1985 to 1996, initially on the Sons of Kresimir (SoK) ticket and later through a pragmatic SoK–Vjetrusa municipal alliance.
Mayoralty (1985–1996)
Gavranovic succeeded Zvonimir Bran when the long Bran Era of fortress conservatism began to strain against Maj Holdings’ demand for modern zoning south of the Old City walls. His administration negotiated the SoK–Vjetrusa pact that allowed Maj to build the glass Maj Tower business district while preserving Diviner oversight of municipal morality codes in the walled centre.
Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Gavranovic balanced Senator Tihomir Bran’s SoK network with Bran Maj’s corporate interests, keeping Polograd’s mayoralty aligned with the district’s conservative establishment even as Blue Dawn collapsed nationally in 1992.
He stepped down in 1996 in favour of Duro Dedic, who held City Hall until Viktor von Kres’s brief monarchist interlude in the 2000s.
