The Iric family is one of Kresimiria’s most prominent and enduring political families. For over a century, the family has been synonymous with the northern regionalist movement and has maintained an almost unbroken hold on at least one of the two Assembly seats for District IV (Severnivaraje) since the founding of the Republic. The dynasty has produced four generations of party leaders and Senators.
The Iric family’s political success is rooted in its consistent advocacy for the interests of Kresimiria’s northern provinces. The Bistrice People’s Party, and its successor, Northern Power, have championed a platform of northern regionalism, focusing on economic development, cultural preservation, and greater political autonomy for the region. The family’s century-long dominance of District IV is a testament to their deep connection with their constituents and their ability to effectively represent the concerns of a distinct and often overlooked part of the country. The Iric dynasty is not only a story of a single family’s political ambition but also a reflection of the enduring power of regional identity in Kresimirian politics.
First Generation: Antonio and Imanuel Iric
The dynasty was founded by Antonio Iric (1900-1979). In 1922, he established the Bistrice People’s Party (BPP) and was elected as the first Senator for District IV. He served in the Assembly for 20 years and led the BPP until 1942, establishing the family’s political dominance in the region.
The patriarch of the dynasty, Antonio Iric, laid the foundation for the family’s political dominance. In 1922, amidst the political fervor of the early Republic, he established the Bistrice People’s Party (BPP), a political organization dedicated to advocating for the interests of the northern provinces. In that same year, he was elected as the first Senator for District IV, a position he would hold for two decades. As the inaugural leader of the BPP, Antonio Iric cemented the party’s and his family’s influence in the region, creating a political legacy that would endure for generations. He retired from public life in 1942.
Imanuel Iric (1908-1985) succeeded his older brother, Antonio, in 1942. In 1942, he was elected to the same Senate seat for District IV and simultaneously assumed the leadership of the Bistrice People’s Party. Imanuel’s tenure was marked by a steady consolidation of the BPP’s power and a continuation of its regionalist platform. He served as both Senator and party leader for 20 years, mirroring his brother’s long career, before retiring in 1962.
Third Generation: Pavel Iric
Arguably the most transformative figure of the dynasty, Pavel Iric (born 1931) ushered the family’s political movement into the modern era. Elected to the Assembly in 1962 to succeed his father, Imanuel, he became the final leader of the BPP. Recognizing the need for a broader political coalition, Pavel orchestrated the merger of the BPP with other regionalist factions in 1963 to formalise its absorption into Northern Power, a nominally pre-existing but functionally new party with a more ambitious, pan-northern agenda. He led Northern Power for nearly four decades, expanding its influence from its traditional base in Severnivaraje to all three northern provinces. By the time of his retirement in 2002, Pavel had transformed a local political machine into a formidable national force.
Fourth Generation: Syv Iric
Syv Iric (born 1971) represents the fourth generation of the dynasty and is the current leader of Northern Power. Taking the reins from his father, Pavel, in 2002, Syv has overseen the party’s most successful period to date. Under his leadership, Northern Power has doubled its representation in the Assembly from two to four seats. This expansion has solidified the party’s status as a major political force in the Republic, demonstrating the enduring power of the Iric family’s brand of regionalist politics. Syv continues to build upon the legacy of his ancestors, adapting the family’s long-standing political traditions to the challenges of the 21st century.
