Kresimiria Severnivaraje

Severnivaraje

One of the ten Kresimirian Districts.

Severnivaraje (District IV) is the northernmost federal district of Kresimiria. Characterized by dense forests and a cooler climate, it has a distinct regional identity that often puts it at odds with the central government in Sinj.

Politics: The Iric Dynasty

Severnivaraje is politically synonymous with the Iric family and the movement for regional autonomy. In 1922, it elected Antonio Iric of the Bistrice People’s Party, the only non-RPP/Independent senator in the first Assembly.

Since then, the seat has been held almost continuously by Antonio’s descendants: his son Imanuel, grandson Pavel, and great-grandson Syv Iric. Under Syv Iric’s leadership, the regionalist party Northern Power has turned the district into a fortress, consistently winning both Senate seats.

Culture

The district is famous for its cuisine, particularly Bistrice Zhrazha, a heavy hunter’s stew. The local dialect of Kresi retains many archaic words from the Vosti era.
