Kutivko is a northeast border town in District IV (Severnivaraje), closer to the Kaskiv frontier than to Bistrica. Freight lorries and early-Kresinet merchant networks define its streetscape more than SeverMin dust.
Geography and economy
Kutivko sits on secondary roads that feed the eastern approaches toward Porta Franca and the Kaskiv steppe trade. Cold-storage depots and light assembly shops serve exporters who prefer not to queue in Bistrica’s Northern Power-dominated yards. Local politics track that merchant class: sceptical of SeverMin patronage, impatient with Sinj paperwork, and more open to Kaskivian commercial habits than the mining capital.
Politics
Northern Power dominates Bistrica and much of Severnivaraje’s extraction belt. Kutivko broke that pattern in 2020, when Tomislav Vuk of the Civic Renewal Front took the mayoralty on a platform of customs simplification and municipal Wi-Fi for the market quarter. NP remains the main opposition. Local CRF organisers present Kutivko as evidence that the party can win outside Horvatin’s District II heartland when the electorate is commercial rather than extractive.
