Oton Kresimir-Smit was a Kresimirian politician who served as Mayor of Polograd from 1945 to 1959 on the Sons of Kresimir (SoK) ticket. His fourteen-year tenure rebuilt municipal authority in the postwar Old City and entrenched SoK patronage around the **Grand Library.
Mayoralty (1945–1959)
Kresimir-Smit took office amid Iron Era recentralisation, expanding Diviner appointments to district licensing boards and backing Chancellor Kresimirovic II’s security programmes while keeping Polograd’s archives closed to CRF researchers. He succeeded Emanuel Herman’s interwar SoK mayoralty and held City Hall through the 1952 RPP-to-Blue Dawn transition without changing party label locally.
He retired in 1959, succeeded briefly by Vjetrusa moderniser Toni Huzjak before SoK reclaimed the mayoralty under Zvonimir Bran in 1968.
