Republic For All (Kresi: Republika za Sve), often abbreviated as RzA, is a non-profit legal advocacy group and human rights charity operating within the Divine Republic of Kresimiria. Founded in 2012 by the lawyer and future CRF Senator Drazen Horvat, the organization provides pro-bono legal defense to citizens prosecuted under the state’s strict censorship and public order laws.
RzA is widely considered the primary bulwark of civil liberty in the Republic, serving as a persistent antagonist to the Council for Internal Affairs (CIA) and the Council for Education. While it operates legally, its offices are frequently subjected to “administrative raids,” and its staff are routinely surveilled by the state. Following the passage of the 2015 Digital Vigilance Act, the charity pivoted heavily toward “Digital Defense,” representing citizens accused of circumventing the KresiX surveillance ecosystem.
History
Foundation (2012)
Drazen Horvat established Republic For All shortly after passing the bar exam. Radicalized by his own detention during student protests at Pulma University in 2009, Horvat aimed to create a “Legal Shield” for the liberal opposition.
The organization initially operated out of a small office above the printing press of the Early Bird Chronicle in Ravna Skrad. Its early caseload focused on defending artists and writers charged under Article 39 of the Constitution (“Prevention of Moral Decay”).
The Digital Shift (2015–Present)
The implementation of the Digital Vigilance Act in 2015 transformed the organization. As Ari Stov and Marta Bilis built the digital surveillance state, RzA recruited a team of tech-literate lawyers to challenge the legality of warrantless data harvesting.
The charity began distributing “Digital Hygiene” pamphlets (often printed physically to avoid digital flagging) advising citizens on how to legally minimize their digital footprint within the YakaSys ecosystem without triggering the Guardian Daemon.
Political Integration (2022)
In 2022, Director Drazen Horvat was elected to the Assembly as a Civic Renewal Front (CRF) Senator. While he officially stepped down from day-to-day case management to serve as non-executive Director, his dual role has led to accusations from Vjetrusa and Blue Dawn that the charity functions as a “shadow ministry” for the opposition.
Operations and Tactics
- The Legal Shield: RzA maintains a 24-hour hotline for arrested activists. They provide immediate legal counsel to ensure detainees do not sign coerced confessions during initial CIA interrogations.
- Strategic Litigation: The organization files lawsuits against state bodies not necessarily to win (as the Superior Tribunal is often conservative), but to force the government to disclose classified procedures in discovery, thereby exposing state overreach to the public.
- Funding: The charity is funded by small donations from the liberal urban middle class in Sinj and Novi Otonik. It refuses government grants to maintain independence.
Notable Case History
Republic For All has been involved in some of the most high-profile legal battles of the last decade.
The Council for Education v. The Chronicle (2013)
The Early Bird Chronicle published a satirical cartoon depicting the Kresimirian High Diviner playing poker with Bran Maj. The Council for Education moved to revoke the paper’s license and levied a crippling fine for “Sacrilege.”
- Defense: RzA argued that the cartoon was “political commentary,” not “theological heresy.”
- Outcome: The fine was reduced by 90%, and the license was retained. It was RzA’s first major victory against the censors.
The State v. Milan T. (2016)
The first major test case of the Digital Vigilance Act. Milan T., a student at Sinj University, was arrested for “Digital Sedition” after rooting his YakaPhone to install unauthorized software.
- Defense: RzA argued that the software (a generic calculator app not in the State Repository) was harmless and that the mandatory use of YakaSys hardware constituted an illegal monopoly under the 1988 State Enterprise Act.
- Outcome: Milan T. was convicted, but RzA successfully argued for a suspended sentence rather than prison time. The case garnered massive publicity and highlighted the draconian nature of the new laws.
The Bistrica Twelve (2018)
Following the 2018 Bistrica Water Protests, the CIA arrested twelve organizers from Northern Power’s youth wing, accusing them of sabotage against SeverMin.
- Defense: RzA deployed a team of lawyers to District IV. They proved that video evidence provided by the CIA had been tampered with.
- Outcome: Charges against eight of the twelve were dropped due to “insufficient evidence.” The remaining four received minor sentences for trespassing.
The Estate of Schoff v. CIA (2012)
See Notable Case Law. Horvat represented the family of the missing terrorist Jochen Schoff, preventing the state from seizing their ancestral land without proof of death or conviction. This case established RzA’s reputation for defending anyone, regardless of popularity, if due process was violated.
