Silvija Bujan (born 1974) is a Kresimirian community organiser and politician who served as Mayor of Cetingrad from 2012–2022, representing the eco-socialist Northern Power (NP). She rose to prominence as the organiser of Cetingrad’s most militant NP cell in the aftermath of the 1998 Cetingrad Steelworks Incident, and became the first Northern Power mayor of the industrial capital of District VIII (Zahodecelska).
Bujan captured City Hall in the 2012 mayoral election with 37.4% of the vote, defeating Blue Dawn’s Dragan Ivic and the incumbent independent Igor Cvetkov, as worsening Red Shore pollution and respiratory illness in the Foundry District drove working-class voters toward NP under the national leadership of Syv Iric. Her decade in office was defined by attempts to impose strict environmental liability on Vokamet, frequent confrontation with conservative union foremen, and a tense municipal balance between the industrial Lower City and the management elites of Voka Heights. She lost the 2022 election to the Maj-funded independent Robert Lujek, who narrowly defeated her 35.1% to 39.2% after a campaign built on economic fear and industrial-protectionist messaging.
Activism after 1998
Bujan was among the first organisers to channel the fury of the November 1998 steelworks disaster into durable political organisation. While Said Klopje’s resignation and the snap election of independent Igor Cvetkov temporarily kept Northern Power from City Hall, Bujan built NP’s Cetingrad chapter around anti-pollution rallies along Lake Vokavovic, memorial vigils for the seven workers killed at Blast Furnace No. 4, and sustained pressure on Bran Maj’s conglomerate. By the early 2010s, her network dominated vote share in the Foundry District even as official Vjetrusa tickets remained toxic across the city.
Mayoral tenure (2012–2022)
As mayor, Bujan campaigned explicitly on holding Vokamet accountable for chemical runoff and particulate pollution that had made Cetingrad one of the most environmentally degraded cities in Kresimiria. Her administration attempted to enforce liability standards and expand municipal oversight of the foundries, drawing relentless opposition from Misko Maretic’s district machine and from TRK commentator Robert Lujek, who framed her policies as a threat to steelworker wages.
Governing proved harder than campaigning. Bujan repeatedly ordered municipal police to break up wildcat strikes organised by conservative union foremen loyal to Vjetrusa, while simultaneously invoking the 1983 Workers Rights Act against Maj Holdings labour practices — a dual posture that satisfied neither the radicalised eco-socialist base nor the industrial-protectionist wing of the Lower City. Demonstrations against Maj and Vjetrusa continued throughout her tenure; by 2022, Lujek’s independent campaign — heavily bankrolled by Maj Logistics — successfully peeled enough Foundry District voters back toward fear of unemployment to end her mayoralty.
