Kresimiria Silvije Srbljic

Silvije Srbljic

Silvije Srbljic (born 1954) is a Kresimirian businesswoman and former politician. She is the sister of Matej Srbljic and was a key partner in the expansion of the Kasa24 retail chain.

While her brother focused on operations, Silvije acted as the political face of the Srbljic business empire. A staunch economic liberal, she ran for the Assembly in District II twice under the banner of the Civic Renewal Front (CRF).

Political Career

Silvije stood for election in 1982 and 1992. Her platform focused on deregulation and the dismantling of the Food Security Act, which she argued was destroying family businesses.

  • 1982 Election: She received 16.0% of the vote but failed to win a seat against the dominant Blue Dawn machine of Ljubo Sanjakorin.
  • 1992 Election: She ran again, increasing her share to 19.8%, but was narrowly defeated by Blue Dawn once again.

Despite her electoral defeats, her lobbying efforts laid the groundwork for the later success of the CRF in the district under Vesna Horvatin. Following the sale of Kasa24 in 2008, she retired from active business.
