Kresimiria YakaPhone

YakaPhone

YakaPhone is the flagship smartphone produced by YakaSys since 2018 for the domestic KresiX market in the Divine Republic of Kresimiria. Together with the YakaBook laptop line, it is the hardware face of Digital Sovereignty: devices that ship with KresiX, the Guardian Daemon, and the National App wallet pre-installed.

Design and supply chain

YakaSys designs the handsets in Kromine; processors and durable logic boards are fabricated by ally DecelChip in Decelska foundries. The partnership was intended to insulate Kresimirian consumer electronics from foreign sanctions — a priority underlined after Amalia Renn’s 2024 Kruhlstutt campaign threatened a tech embargo on Kresimirian state enterprises.

Technically, any KresiX-compatible device may be used. In practice, high import tariffs on foreign handsets make the YakaPhone the default purchase for working-class households, civil servants, and students.

Law and culture

Rooting or sideloading software outside the State Repository is treated as digital sedition under the popular name of the 2015 Digital Vigilance Act. The first headline test case, The State v. Milan T. (2016), concerned a Sinj University student who rooted a YakaPhone; Republic for All secured a suspended sentence rather than custody.

Satirical coverage — including an Early Bird Chronicle spoof advertisement listing “Spy on your neighbours” as a feature — periodically draws legal threats from YakaSys that are usually dropped to avoid amplifying the joke. Abroad and in exile circles, “YakaPhone” is shorthand for living inside the Divine Firewall.
