Kresimiria 1989 Kruhlstutt General Election

1989 Kruhlstutt General Election

This election followed the monumental death of the liberal King Johannes III in 1988 and the coronation of the strictly ceremonial King Frederik V. In December 1988, Wilhem Aris was ousted as Prime Minister by a coalition of centrist SWL MPs who viewed his premiership as destabilising to the country. Fietje Braunlich, a liberal-leaning MP, won the SWL leadership election and became Prime Minister. After a second vote of no confidence, Braunlich called for a snap election.

Left-leaning SWL MPs formed a temporary electoral alliance, led by Marageta Radnitz, called the Socialist Progressives.

Marking the end of an era, SWL Prime Minister Fietje Braunlich lost his mandate as the Liberals shot up in a historic growth, campaigning on modernizing the Kingdom’s tech sector to compete globally.

Sandro Kepler, new leader of the Kruhlstutter Union, entered a coalition with the Liberals. Kepler and Roth’s fiften-year administration would later gut the old labour laws, and massively deregulate the tech sector.
