Kresimiria Ivan Rukavin

Ivan Rukavin

Ivan Rukavin is a Kresimirian politician who served as Mayor of Lipovljana from 1964 to 1978 on the Blue Dawn ticket. His fourteen-year tenure coincided with the mountain resort’s “luxury destination” boom along the Upper Slopes of District VI (Viskogorje).

Mayoralty (1964–1978)

Rukavin won the 1964 election promising to transform Lipovljana into a world-class ski and spa hub, zoning new hotels and cable infrastructure while keeping traditionalist rural voters onside. Blue Dawn held the mayoralty through the peak of the resort economy before a nationalist backlash swept retired general Anton Trn and Vjetrusa into City Hall in 1978.

Name and local lore

Rukavin shares his surname with Leon Rukavin, the Lipovljana-born Chair of the Assembly who negotiated the Treaty of Brod Moravice. Lipovljana locals sometimes speculate the two men were distant kin, given the same hometown and surname, but no confirmed family relationship appears in municipal or party records; the connection remains unconfirmed local lore rather than documented genealogy.
