Stefan Lorc (born 1958) is a Kruhlstutt ferry captain and former politician who led the Riverine Front from late 1994 until 2004. He took over after Jozef Pralin stepped aside following the 1994 election, and led the Front into the 1999 General Election. He sat for Voka North from 1999 until 2004.
A lake-shore organiser in the tradition of Luka Mornar, Lorc represented ferry operators, customs brokers, and warehouse workers whose wages depend on keeping cross-border freight moving. Under his leadership the Front surged in 1999, gaining 15 seats (to 25 total, 7.5% of the vote) as Maximilien Roth’s Liberals collapsed and Phillipp Lexis’s SWL attacked cross-lake deregulation.
1999 kingmaker role
With Sandro Kepler’s KU–Liberal–RF coalition holding a bare majority against the largest-ever SWL caucus, Lorc extracted written concessions on Lake Vokavovic border security: staffing cuts at western customs posts, streamlined ferry licensing, and tacit tolerance of grey-market steel transiting from Cetingrad. Lexis denounced the deal as blood money; lake cantons celebrated it as survival.
Lorc stepped down in 2004 after Kepler’s resignation, handing the party to Tomasz Iric. He remains a vocal critic of Bran Maj’s environmental record while defending the economic necessity of Maj Steel exports — a position that mirrors the RF’s permanent tension between frontier commerce and continental morality politics.
